The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) Annual Dinner has become a cherished tradition, with <em><strong>nine consecutive <\/strong><\/em>successful dinners held since its inception. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As 2025 draws to a close, PCAU members will gather for this significant year-end event on <strong>December 5th at the Fairway Hotel in Kampala<\/strong>. This year&#8217;s dinner is themed <strong>&#8220;Empowering children and youth to engage and strengthen Compassionate Communities in Uganda,&#8221;<\/strong> and is dedicated to fundraising for the crucial expansion of the School Compassionate Community Program. We aim to raise <strong>UGX 100 Million<\/strong> to support 10 hospices collaborating with 10 schools over the next two years, an initiative designed to cultivate compassionate individuals, raise disease awareness, and foster a strong sense of community service nationwide through Palliative Care Clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0e8040\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Join us for the 10th PCAU Annual Members&#8217; Get-together Dinner<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-themepunch-revslider revslider\" data-modal=\"false\" data-slidertitle=\"Members Slider\" style=\"\"><script>console.log(\": Slider with alias homepage-1 not found.\")<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/mDjC2bptzD\" style=\"background-color:#0e8040\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Register to Attend<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0e8040\" class=\"has-inline-color\">A Look Back: The History of PCAU Annual Dinners<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2016:<\/strong> The inaugural dinner raised funds to purchase land for New Life Hospice Arua (NELIHA).<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2017:<\/strong> The second dinner supported Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja with a vehicle and funds for a permanent home.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2018:<\/strong> The third dinner contributed to the renovation of Mobile Hospice Mbarara and commemorated 25 years of Hospice Africa Uganda.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2019:<\/strong> The fourth dinner, PCAU Celebrated 20 years of existence and supported Kitovu Mobile in Masaka to acquire a mobile clinic for cancer screening and palliative care services.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2020:<\/strong> The fifth dinner brought PCAU Members together to celebrate resilience for the continuity of Palliative care providers amidst COVID-19. It was held with the National Religious Council and PCAU Fraternity at the Fairway Hotel in Kampala.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2021:<\/strong> The Sixth Annual Fundraising members&#8217; get-together was held in western Uganda. It was aimed at supporting the transport needs of children with Cancer from rural communities to continue and complete their treatment. It was held in Mbarara at the Lake View Hotel. <br><a href=\"https:\/\/pcauganda.org\/new-progress\/the-shine-child-program-at-pcau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Special Hearts to Nurture Every Child <strong>(SHiNE ) Program<\/strong><\/a> was launched.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2022:<\/strong> The Seventh Annual Fundraising dinner was held at Fairway Hotel, in Kampala to strengthen Palliative Care in the Northern region, in collaboration with St. Kizito Maternal Hospital in Karamoja.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2023:<\/strong> The eighth Annual Fundraising dinner was held in 2023. PCAU launched a&nbsp;<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/pcauganda.org\/new-progress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/PC-Services-Directory.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Uganda National Palliative Care Directory<\/a>.<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;This is an important document profiling the presence of palliative care services in Uganda. Health workers referring patients and families can utilize this to reach colleagues in the respective health facilities.&nbsp; At the dinner, a new organization:&nbsp;<strong>Cancer Disabilities Advocacy Centre (CADAC)&nbsp;<\/strong>was launched. This is an NGO dedicated to empowering individuals facing cancer-related disabilities.&nbsp; The dinner offered an opportunity to recognize some of the key institutions that have supported the development of palliative care in Uganda over the last 30 years. These were the United States Agency for International Development&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/uganda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(USAID),<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Cancer Society<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;(ACS), National Medical Stores (NMS), Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC), and St. Francis Hospital Nsambya.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2024:<\/strong> <strong>The 9<sup>th<\/sup> PCAU Members Annual Get-together and Silver Jubilee Gala Dinner<\/strong>: The Silver Jubilee Gala Dinner, held on <strong>December 6, 2024, at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi,<\/strong> was a significant success, marking <strong>25 years<\/strong> of palliative care achievements.<br>The event successfully <strong>raised funds<\/strong> to: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expand<\/strong> specialist palliative care services to <strong>39 currently underserved Districts.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support Kawempe Home Care<\/strong> in purchasing a dedicated home for children fighting cancer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Join us as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and shape the future of palliative care in Uganda.<br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/pcauganda.org\/new-progress\/members\/\" style=\"background-color:#0e8040\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click to Become a Member<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"7517\" src=\"https:\/\/pcauganda.org\/new-progress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-10-25-at-09.46.05-1-1024x379.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7517\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Payment Details<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2016, PCAU Members Annual Get-together Dinner has been a tradition honoring our commitment to palliative care in Uganda.
