Dr. Henry Ddungu

Dr. Ddungu is a consultant Hematology/Oncology at the Uganda Cancer Institute. Hitherto, he worked as a clinician providing palliative care services to terminally ill cancer and AIDS patients at Hospice Africa Uganda and as a Regional Palliative Care Advocate with the African Palliative Care Association (APCA). He is passionate about teaching palliative care and has taught palliative care in many African countries. He has worked on different peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of palliative care.

Mr. John Muwonge

Mr. John Muwonge

Mr. Muwonge is an Assistant Superintendent of Police and is a public Health Officer on an AIDS control program and the focal person for Palliative Care in the Police Medical Directorate. The knowledge acquired during his higher Diploma in Pediatric Palliative Care at Mildmay has helped in his advocacy work. Before joining the Uganda Police, he worked with TASO and was directly dealing with patients where he offered Palliative Care to those that needed it.

Mrs. Dora Kiconco Musinguzi

Mrs. Kiconco Musinguzi is the Executive Director of Uganda Network on Law, Ethics, and HIV/AIDS (UGANET). She is a Human Rights Lawyer committed to the pursuit of social justice for Uganda communities. She has a particular interest in Health rights, HIV/AIDS, and gender justice. She possesses organizational management skills. Leadership and Governance competencies focused on social transformation.

Josephine Kampi works with the African Palliative Care Association of Uganda (APCA) as the Director of Resources. She is a member of the Association of Chartered satisfied Accountants (ACCA). She has provided leadership to the financial management of various organizations where she has worked through; management of the computerized accounting systems, preparing the annual consolidated budgets and management of accounts.

Gerever Niwagaba works with Kawempe Home Care where he is a founder member and Programs Manager. He has an experience of 10 years in project planning and management. He has great skills in resource mobilization, administration, and financial management as well as monitoring and evaluation. He has served on the board of several organizations. He has a great touch with patients and has a passion for palliative care.

Hajjati Mwazi Batuli

Hajjat Mwazi works with Makerere University and Mulago Palliative Care Unit as a Research Nurse and Junior Lecturer. She has a background in General nursing and midwifery. She has over 20 years of experience in Clinical Palliative Care. She is a Trainer of Trainers and mentors other health care professionals. She has participated in different Palliative Care Publications as an author and co-author.

Dr. Andrew Ocero

Dr. Andrew Ocero

Dr. Ocero is a Ph.D. Commonwealth Scholar in Health Policy and Systems Research from the University of Liverpool. He has a Master in Public Health and Internal Medicine. He worked as a specialist physician at Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he opened the first hospital-based palliative care unit in 1999. He later worked as an HIV Senior Lecturer at Uganda Christian University before joining the USAID Defeat TB Project as Deputy Chief of Party and supports Uganda’s National TB program. Dr. Ocero has served as an Executive Board Member for the Uganda Society of Health Scientists and PCAU. He has long experience in private practice and he set up the first community radio in Northern Uganda.

Dr. Ekiria Kikule is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at Uganda Christian University (UCU) she worked as a Director of Quality Assurance at Mildmay Uganda and as Executive Director at Hospice Africa Uganda. She has over 15 years of experience in clinical practice and extensive experience and expertise in Research, Palliative Care, Strategic Planning, Budgeting and has wide experience in working with government and bilateral donors.

Hajjat Safina Museene Kisu

Hajjat Safina is a Nurse Educator, she started her carrier as a registered nurse, then became a tutor and later became a Principal heading the following nursing schools, Mulago, Kibuli and Jinja Schools of Nursing and Midwifery. She is the Commissioner Business Technical and Vocational Training (BTVET) under the Ministry of Education and Sports, a strong nurse advocate and Fellow of Sub Sahara FAIMER.
