Lt. Col. Dr. Kyobe Henry Bbosa
Incident Commander for COVID-19, Ministry of Health
Lt. Col. Dr. Kyobe Henry Bbosa is the Incident Commander for COVID-19 in the Ministry of Health. Prior to this role, he was a senior public health specialist with the Outbreak and Epidemics pilot programme at African Risk Capacity, a specialized agency of the African Union. Prior to this, he was an applied epidemiology research fellow with Uganda MOH/CDC/ Makerere University School of Public Health Fellowship Program based at the Department of Arbovirology, Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases of Uganda Virus Research Institute, Entebbe.
He is a Medical doctor, a graduate of Makerere University, Kampala; holder of Master of Science, Public Health (Epidemiology and Disease Control) from the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp Belgium. Post Graduate Diploma, Control of Infectious Diseases, University of Ancona, Italy. He is currently a Ph.D. student at Wits School of Health Sciences, and a scholar at the University of Oxford focusing on systematic reviews and meta-analysis. His Ph.D. work focuses on vaccine immunology specifically looking at the “Impact of previous exposure to other coronaviruses and adenoviruses (ad5, ad26, ad35, and ad48) on the efficacy of AstraZeneca SARS CoV-2 Vaccine in Uganda”
