Success Story of Mr. Tale Sosi

Mr. Tale Sosi from Misoli remote village and had been suffering from maxillary cancer for more than five years. Without money or family support, he could not access hospital care. His condition worsened until one side of his face was eaten up by the cancer. He lived in pain, isolation, and despair, with no one to look after him.

The Sisters of the Destitute reached out and brought him to the SD Cancer Palliative Care Centre in Jinja. There, he was welcomed with love and dignity. Through personal palliative care, pain relief, and close medical attention, his health improved and is with us 2 years. Alongside physical treatment, he also received emotional care and spiritual support, which lifted his spirit and gave him new hope. Today, Mr. Sosi is alive, happy, and able to smile again. His story is a witness to the importance of holistic palliative care—care that treats not just the illness but the person as a whole. It shows that even in advanced stages of cancer, life can be lived with dignity, comfort and joy.
