On August 25, 2024, the PCAU staff joined thousands of participants in the annual Rotary Cancer Run in Kampala. This was the 12th edition of the fundraiser run. The proceeds of this run are directed toward completing the much-anticipated one-stop cancer center at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya. PCAU worked with long-term partners the Rotary Club of Kampala Day Break (RCDBK) to set up an information desk on palliative care and utilized the opportunity to create awareness about palliative care.

The PCAU booth, set up in the exhibition area, became a focal point for information and conversation. Runners and spectators alike stopped by to pick up fliers and engage in heartfelt discussions about the importance of palliative care for those living with life-limiting illnesses, especially cancer patients. The team took the time to explain how Palliative Care complements cancer treatment by focusing on the quality of life, pain management, and emotional support for patients and their families. We extend gratitude to the Rotary Club of Kampala Day Break for the collaboration and to all the participants who supported the cause.
