The World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD)-2024

Every year palliative care stakeholders globally celebrate the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day to advocate for People Living with Palliative Care Needs(PLWPCNs). This day is commemorated on every second Saturday of October. The WHPCD will be on Saturday 12 October 2024 this year.

The global theme for WHPCD 2024 is Ten Years Since the Resolution: How are we doing?

This year’s World Day is 12 October. The resolution in question is titled Strengthening of Palliative Care as a Component of comprehensive care throughout the life course and was passed by the World Health Assembly on 24 May 2014.

The Ministry of Health has announced that World Hospice and Palliative Care Week to commence on Monday, October 7 to Saturday, Oct 12, 2024. Several activities have been lined up to mark the week under the theme: “Committed to Strengthening Palliative Care as a Component for Comprehensive Care in Uganda”

Please join the lined-up activities and participate in amplifying the voice for palliative care in your community.
