The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) organizes an inter-organization soccer gala as an event to drum up support for palliative care issues and to create awareness. It is held annually in commemoration of the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD) which takes place on the second Saturday of October every year. This is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world.  In Uganda, the main events to commemorate this day are spearheaded by PCAU.
