PROFILING THE WORK OF HOSPICES AND PALLIATIVE CARE ORGANIZATIONS IN UGANDA

During the period September to October 2020, PCAU with support from the African Palliative Care Association, PCAU was able to develop a brief profile about the work of each PCAU member organization who are hospices and palliative care organizations spread across the country.

The different hospices shared information on the work they do in form of written articles which were transformed into short videos that have been published on the PCAU online platforms for purposes of providing information to improve access to the services.

The profiling was aimed at increasing awareness about the services and therefore ultimately improving access to palliative care services for patients and their families in need in different parts of the country, increasing the knowledge and understanding about the work of palliative care and show-casing the different services offered at each hospice and area of coverage.

Some of the Hospices that were profiled include the following:

  1. Hospice Africa Uganda
  2. Hospice Tororo
  3. Kawempe Home Care
  4. Kitovu Mobile
  5. Little Hospice Hoima
  6. Joy Hospice Mbale
  7. Mobile Hospice Mbarara
  8. Peace Hospice Adjumani
  9. Palliative Care Education & Research Consortium

This was done as part of the commemorations for the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2020 a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. The WHPCD always brings together all members and other stakeholders to raise their voices for the cause of ensuring access to Palliative Care for all in need in Uganda.

All these profiles are available on our youtube channel for viewing.
