Meet the New PCAU Board Members

At the AGM on Friday, May 31, PCAU members voted for new members to compose the organization’s Board of Directors for the period 2024-2027. The Board of PCAU is composed of 9 members and the Executive Director who is Ex officio member. Of the 9 members of the Board, 4 of them are continuing members into their there last 3 years term of office and these are Dr. Miriam Ajambo, Gloria Kirungi Kasozi PhD, Timothy Basiimampora PhD, and Grace Nayiga.

The new 5 members who were elected during the AGM this year are:

Rev. Sr Judith Kaddu is a Midwife.
She is a sister of the little sisters of St. Francis congregations and holds a Master of Public Health leadership from Uganda Christian University (UCU). She has a bachelor’s degree in medical education, a Diploma In Midwifery, and a Certificate In Midwifery. She has served in Senior management positions for the Health Training Institutions (HTI) for the last ten years and is currently the Principal of St. Francis Hospital Nsambya Training School. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Jinja with passion and spirit to serve society to transform lives.

Dr. Nixon Niyonzima is a Medical Doctor.
He holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington (UW), a Master’s degree in Global Health from Duke University, and another Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). He also possesses a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery from Makerere University. He has worked at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) for the past thirteen years and is currently the Head of Education and Research. He is a research scientist focusing on the description of the mutational profile of cancers in Uganda and the development of affordable and accessible diagnostics for these cancers.

Roselight Katusabe is a Nurse.
She holds a Master of Science Degree in Palliative Care with a Paediatric Palliative Care specialization. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Palliative Care, a Diploma in Clinical Palliative Care, and a Diploma in Nursing. She is the Health Services Coordinator at Hospice Africa Uganda-Kampala and supports teaching at the Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care in Africa (IHPCA). She is also a part-time Lecturer at the Uganda Christian University (UCU). She has been engaged in hospice and palliative care work for the last 14 years

Dr. Elizabeth Namukwaya is a Medical Doctor.
She holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, a Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine from Makerere Medical School, and a Diploma in Palliative Care. She has been practicing in palliative care for the last 16 years, initially with Hospice Africa Uganda and later with Makerere Palliative Care Unit and Palliative Care Education and Research Consortium. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Makerere University and an honorary lecturer at the Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care in Africa. She is involved in collaborative research locally and internationally with APCA, the University of Coimbra, Sheffield, and Oslo University.

Christine Grace Akullo Ebong is a public health and customer service specialist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from International Health Sciences University (IHSU), a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and a Diploma in Dispensing (Pharmacy). She has worked with the National Medical Stores in various capacities including as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Senior Customer Care Officer and is currently the Principal Advocacy Customer Care Officer. She is a Life Member of PCAU.
