Advert: Palliative Care Training in Uganda Scholarships for The Academic Year 2024

The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) invites applications for a limited number of scholarships for Palliative Care Diploma and Degree Training Programs for the academic year 2024. Application for the PCAU scholarships should have obtained admission from the Training Institutions.  

About PCAU

The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) was established in 1999 and registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in 2003. PCAU was established to coordinate civil society efforts in supporting the government and to integrate palliative care into the national health care system at all levels. By the end of 2023, PCAU was composed of 28 organizations and over 1400 individual members including healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community members across the country. The association’s secretariat operates from owned premises in Kitende on Entebbe Road and runs 10 regional committees (branches) across Uganda.

PCAU Mission and Capacity Building Objective

PCAU’s Mission is ‘To accelerate the provision and integration of palliative care in Uganda’s healthcare system through capacity building, advocacy, research, governance, and resource mobilization.’

One of the major aims of PCAU is to increase the number of palliative care providers in every district of Uganda and to strengthen their capacity through supporting training, continuous professional education, mentorship, and supervision.

PCAU Scholarships Criteria 2024

The 2024 PCAU Scholarships target health workers admitted for palliative care education and training in 2024. The applicants should be in active employment, registered with their respective professional councils, and hold proof of recommendation or study leave from their employers to undertake the studies.

Applicants who have been active in palliative care work at the health facility or district or who are subscribed members of PCAU will have an advantage.
