Mark Donald Mwesiga

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mark Donald Mwesiga is currently the Executive Director at The Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU). Before being appoint appointed CEO at PCAU, he was Head of Programs at the same organization for five years. His current role involves working with multiple partner organizations, donors, and individuals to strengthen the national health care systems.

The association he leads is composed of 24 hospice and palliative care organizations and over 1200 individuals. Mwesiga holds a Master of Management (MMS) from Uganda Management Institute (UMI), a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management from UMI, and a Degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University. He is finalizing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Uganda Martyrs University. He has attained various short course qualifications in Project Planning and Management, Drug Policy, Diplomacy, and Public Health from The Graduate Institute in Geneva – Switzerland.

He has worked as a lecturer at Ankole Western University, as an Organizational Development Consultant, and has extensive experience in people management. His previous employment includes; Assistant Roles to the University Secretary as in Charge of Human Resources at Bishop Stuart University and Project Coordinator roles with Integrated Community Based Initiatives (ICOBI). Mwesiga cherishes his volunteering role at Scripture Union of Uganda which ushered him into the world of employment at a starting rank. Mwesiga excels at planning and managing health and development work.

He has managed many multi-donor projects at the grassroots, regional and national levels. He is enthusiastic about advocacy, social justice, public health, community education, and human resource management.

Mwesiga is also a creative writer and blogger. He runs a blog on current affairs that interest his intellect.
