At the beginning of 2026, PCAU established a partnership with Hope on Wheels Ireland, and we are in the process of starting a fundraiser that will benefit the entire palliative care fraternity in Uganda. One of the things that we have done to kick-start our partnership is to engage other stakeholders, for example, we had meetings with the Ministry of Health and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). The main purpose of this fundraiser is to raise resources to establish the Dr. Anne Merriman Fund for palliative care in Uganda.

We are excited about the prospects of the fund and the opportunity of ambulances which have been donated by Hope on Wheels Ireland to revamp the work of palliative care in the country, and we look forward to sharing the next steps of this initiative. We appreciate our dear partners Hope On Wheels, the Ministry of Health, and everyone who has been involved in this initiative. We also appreciate Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda for accepting to be a patron for this fund/initiative.
