During their meeting held on Thursday 22nd September 2016, the Board of PCAU resolved that from the year 2016, PCAU will hold an annual Fundraising dinner named: the PCAU Annual Dinner
Dr. Sam Guma, president of the Board hands over an award to Medical Access Uganda LTD for their support, at Hotel Africana during the 2016 PCAU Annual Dinner The dinner will be held in Kampala City during the month of December. Each year the dinner will be organized under a chosen them.
Purpose of the dinner
The major purpose of the dinner will be to fundraise for and raise funds for scaling up Palliative Care Services in the Country. The funds raised will be used to support development of standalone Hospices or District Palliative Care initiatives especially in remote districts of Uganda there by bringing palliative care nearer to the people and contributing to the sustainability of PCAU.
Specifically the PCAU Annual Dinner will also serve the following specific purposes:
i. Bring together PCAU individual Members and leaders of PCAU Member organizations and invited guests to reflect on Palliative Care Services in the Country at a single evening social event.
ii. To offer PCAU Annual merit awards to individuals or institutions that have contributed greatly to the growth of Palliative Care Services in Uganda.
iii. To give an opportunity to PCAU Members, other stake holders and the public to donate to selected causes of enhancing Palliative Care Services in Uganda.
Promoting and Supporting:-
- Viable, effective, and sustainable palliative care organization,
- Palliative care education,
- Palliative care research,
- Palliative care service provision,
- Palliative care standards for quality service provision,
- Monitoring and evaluation of palliative care service,
Networking and collaboration in the provision of palliative care.
