Annually, PCAU holds a fundraising dinner during December to support a specific standalone hospice work. The dinners are held under the theme of “Scaling up Cancer and other Palliative Care response in remote areas in Uganda”. The resources raised are donated to a selected hospice to support a cause much needed in their field of palliative care work. Four dinners have been held and have created a great impact in the following areas;
- The first Annual Fundraising Dinner was held in 2016. The funds raised contributed towards the purchase of 2.5 acres of land for the establishment of New Life Hospice Arua (NELIHA) in Arua District.
- The second Annual Fundraising Dinner was held in 2017 and the funds raised purchased a motor vehicle to support outreach and family visits for Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja. Additional funds were contributed towards the purchase of a permanent home.
- The third Annual Fundraising Dinner was held in 2018. Funds raised contributed to the renovation of Mobile Hospice Mbarara. The Dinner event also marked the commemoration of 25 years of Hospice Africa Uganda.
- The third Annual Fundraising Dinner was held in 2019. Funds went to support Kitovu Mobile in Masaka, to kick start the dream of acquiring a clinic mobile van to enhance community outreach for cancer screening and palliative care services in greater Masaka.
